Allergies cause Fatalities โรคภูมิแพ้ทำให้เสียชีวิตได้

Welcome to our blog. I am writing on behalf of my wife, Mummy, my son, Xander and every single person out there that has ever consumed anything and not felt quite right afterwards.

We have learnt the hard way. Fortunately, our experiences have not ended in a fatality although on one occasion Xander did spend the night in ICU. Why, you ask? He had eaten a packet of Fake M&Ms (that looked very real). He had eaten M&Ms a hundred times previously and had never experienced anything out of the ordinary.

Following Loy Grathong Festival (a celebration to say thank you for the rain and water) in Thailand, where we live. We arrived home after visiting the Temple as well as placing our Grathong onto the water in the canal; only to see our son begin his anaphylactic allergic reaction. It began with him losing colour in his face. He complained of stomach cramps. He started to walk upstairs to rest and threw up what I can only describe as a thick, white liquid. Mummy and I knew exactly what had happened. It was impossible to pin point what had caused the reaction.

We arrived at our local, private hospital, naturally petrified and searching for anwers. It's easy for a doctor to tell you that they are having an allergic reaction (which we obviously knew) but it gets much more complicated when you ask; what caused the reaction?

When checking him they noticed his SPO2 (blood oxygen level) was going South. Anything below 90% is not acceptable in the eyes of a doctor. After having introvenously administered the adrenaline/epinephrine everything got back to normal very quickly. They insisted my son go to ICU and spend the night there; which I thought was completely unnecessary due to his almost immediate recovery. However, I may have my own theory as to why some of these private hospitals in Thailand insist on making your visit the most expensive they can when they know how well insured you are, but that can be a subject for another day.

There is no need for an allergic reaction to be fatal; education is the key.
